Delta Cropland Values Up 3% Since 2015 According to USDA

The National Agricultural Statistical Service (NASS) released their annual Land Value report which showed the US farm real estate value decreased 0.3% over 2015.  In the Delta States, cropland values increased from a year ago.  Arkansas irrigated increased 3.2% to $3,200/ac and non-irrigated cropland values increased 2.6% to $1,950/acre.  Louisiana irrigated cropland values increased 6.3% to $2,550/ac while non-irrigated cropland values increased 4.7% to $2,650/ac.  Mississippi irrigated cropland values increased 4.0% to $3,150/ac while non-irrigated cropland values increased 1.7% to $2,460/ac.  Missouri irrigated cropland values decreased 0.6% to $5,100/ac while non-irrigated cropland values decreased -1.1% to $3,660/ac.  Tennessee cropland values increased 3.7% to $3,600/ac.

Overall prices in the Delta region are steady compared to other prominent cropland areas such as the Corn Belt and Northern Plains.
